I sat down with the New york Designer to preview his Srping/Summer 2010 Collection and to get his insight on his Label and his design aesthetic
LL: Give the Obvious readers some background on the Raun LaRose label.
Raun Larose: I established my Label in 2007 while still enrolled in College. I named my Line after myself becuase I felt as if that would be the best reprensation for my brand instead of creating a name. most of the greats have brands named after themselves. So I thought it would be best to follw suit. I have had a major love for Fashion since I could remember.
LL: What were u inspirations Behind the 2010 spring collection.
Raun Larose: My inspration for the S/S Collection was to take fabrics that you wouldnt normally see in Menswear or on men period amd create pieces of art. Im all about art at the end of the day. The theme for the Collection was "We own the Night" ... Each Piece Represents something different.
LL: Who is the Raun LaRose Man?
Raun Larose: Raun LaRose is a young man with an empecable sense of style. That believes in Quality not Quantity. I am striving to be one of the Designers of my Generation. When people view my Collections. I dont always want ppl to look at the rtw aspect. Look at my work as outlet for creativity and an avenue of Luxury.
His portfolio clearly shows an appreciation for European design and culture. Designing original collections of high-end fashion for the client committed to luxury appeals to him. The classic styles of Ralph Lauren and Yves St. Laurent are significant influences. He identifies with an aesthetic that seeks to expand the ideas and choices within contemporary men’s fashion. When people ask what a man wears, the reply will be more than “a shirt and some pants.”

Homeroom’s ‘American Rejects’ collection for the holiday 2009 drop is inspired by a mature and determined work ethic akin to that of the 1930s and ’50s. Simple and stylish, the collection is vintage Americana through and through. The two classic peacoats and the varsity jacket are all made from 100% California wool and leather and are available in select retailers and Homeroom’s online store.
Men's Bag
With the increasing popularity of the accessory bag market Japan’s Porter has been doing an excellent job at staying at the front of the pack utilizing fine-quality materials, impressive designs and limited production runs to keep the attention of its loyal supporters. It’s most recent release includes the ‘Albert’ Shoulder Bag, a water-resistant shoulder piece that comes in black or khaki and can double as a messenger bag. The Albert Shoulder Bag is available now via Beams

Olexa Casanova is one of New York’s up-and-coming fashion designer and recently released his holiday 2009 collection. The line consists of boots, trousers, knitwear and outerwear in muted contrasting tones of black, white and gray. The garments and their aesthetic are inspired by futurism and constructivism. Definitive Touch is looking forward seeing more from Casanova.

The limited edition collaboration with historic Belgian luxury leather goods brand Delvaux is produced exclusively for Monocle in woven Toile de Cuir and lined with Basane leather, possibly one of the finest quality leathers in the world. An enclosed lined pocket for separating your laptop and papers, as well as external straps for slotting in the newspaper of your choice (the classier the publication, the more complete the look). Describing this as beautiful just seems inadequate. Available here.

Launched in 2004, H by Hudson has always been operating under the shadows of big brother, the established Hudson footwear brand. Yet like the rebellious child, they are consistently pushing the limits of contemporary casual footwear design, making Hudson seem more like an old grandfather, stubbornly set in his old traditions. It’s hard to avoid liking the values the brand strides to base its products on; innovation, unsurpassed quality & design and most importantly, affordability. It’s even harder to believe that this London-based label is selling these surprisingly elegant laceup boots at Urban Outfitters. Upon first glance, the high-end distressed sueded tan-leather upper, stacked wood midsole and heel with leather outsole and rubber heel strike, are all details you would think to find in a boot at a high-end boutique. Yet fortunately for your wallet, the H Murano Suede Tan Laceup boots are available here.

Nowadays, fur clothing depicts fashion and extravagance due to its current association with designer brands. It depicts an exotic image which makes the designers continue using fur as their material. It’s velvety and hard-to-produce material makes it expensive and a valued material for clothing.
